Teen Risk behaviors: Teen sex
Many people go through a lot in their teens. It’s kind of like a learning time, they try new things. Some good some bad. One of those risk behaviors is sex. Teens are influenced by many things to have sex, the media, peers, their pride, or even their family. There is a way to help stop or lower the rates of teens that have sex, and its called sex education, most schools have it. There are also a whole bunch of ways to prevent or lower the rates of teens having sex, like Programs, co-curricular activities, ect. But there are some problems with them, because teen sex rates, and teen pregnancy rates are growing. So High schools should educate students more about sex education.
Teen sex rates are on the rise, In January 2010 nearly 46% of all teens between the ages of 15-19 years old have had sex before. That’s almost 5 in every 10 teens! There is something wrong with the programs that they are teaching young teens, and teens. Maybe they should teach more about not having sex and staying abstinent, rather than teaching them how to have safe sex. That is only telling them that if you do have sex then use a condom, but that’s giving them an option to have sex. They should show more affects of teens that do have sex, like STDs, Aids, Pregnancy, Weird feeling of being around that person, have someone that wasn’t abstinent and have them talk about their life after they had sex.
Teen sex education programs now have the basic facts about sex, like a little bit of facts on how STDs can change your life. There should be more, They should offer it as a course in high schools. That will offer a better way of getting a message out too teens about the benefits of staying abstinent. There should always be multiple ways of helping teens to stay abstinent, sports are a very good way, it helps them keep their mind off things.

Collage essay
Collage essay
I was at that age where you really start to think about things in a deeper context like, what am I going to do after high school? What kind of job am I going to get? How will people remember me when I die? Why am I alive? What is my purpose on earth? I was so into finding out why I was here on earth I tried to find answers. It kind of irritated my parents, but hey, what are parents for? I started to try different things, like being more active in my church, but things weren’t the best for me. I tried drawing, I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t so great at it. Then I started making videos for my media class. I was pretty good at it too. I like the feel of directing your own video the way you want it, and edit it the way your vision was. I don’t feel like I’m being forced to make videos, I feel free to do whatever I want to do.
Another thing that I was introduced to my freshman year in high school was, high school sports. I’ve played sports before, but high school sports are on a whole new level. I played football and basketball for the Moanalua Na Menehune. I was one of the few freshman that made the JV football and basketball team. I was one of the few that survived both of them. I was the starting defensive tackle my sophomore year, also earning the hard working player award.

COA essay rough draft
There has been many of places that I have been in my life, and my family was always there with me. I have only been on a trip far away from my family, and that was this summer when I went to Washington D.C.. My friend, my teacher, her husband and I all went on a "Business trip" to Washington D.C. because our group had won 1st place regionally in a national science technology and engineering competition, so the nationals were in D.C.. The thing was that our parents could have gone but I just chose not to tell them, because i was going to be with friends. I thought that it was going to be only a "fun with friends and cool teacher" kind of trip, but I was wrong. I realized that I was old enough to take care of myself, and that was what it was going to have to be like that for years to come.
When I was at the Honolulu international Airport I was filled with excitement, even though it was like 10:00 pm I felt like it was 12:00. As I said my good byes to my family I was kind of rushing them and trying to hurry up and leave them. It was going to be the first time I ever went on a trip without my family so I was excited, plus I was going to be exploring the nation's capitol with four of the coolest people I ever met, Jody,Kiyo ,Kai , and Mrs T. I was so physicked when we finally got on the plane that I couldn't sleep the whole six hours it took us to get to Portland. I had only left Hawaii with about $300, so I thought I was fine.
When we checked into our hotel there was a whole bunch of photographers taking pictures of us as soon as we got out of the bus. I got to share a room with Kai, so that was fine, as long as I didn't have to share a room with three guys. As soon as we all got settled I had that feeling, that I was a Young adult and that I had to be mature and take care of myself. It was like my parents with me all the time was like homework and this was like a test to see if they taught me well. I had that feeling that I had to act as if my parents were there. I immediately unpacked everything the way my parents used to tell me. I wore clothes that matched with my shoes whenever we went out.
Overall on that trip I learned that whatever your parents teach you when you are with them will be very useful when you have to go on your own. I now wear clothes that match with my shoes and I still have that feeling that whenever my parents aren't there I have to be the great young man that my parents raised.

coming of age
To me coming of age is the same thing as maturity. I say that because coming of age is "meeting" that age when you are old enough to do things on your own and prove that you are a responsible young adult. Maturity to means that you are responsible and reaching an age where you can look out for yourself. You have to prove that you can be trusted with responsibilities and tasks, and when you carry out those tasks, you will prove to your parents that you are mature and they will grant you other privileges, like a later curfew, going out with friends, and so forth.

What makes good sci-fi
Good sci-fi is when you combine a good scientific breakthrough, the actors act their parts really good. A key factor is the screenplay and a good storyboard. You must also have lighting and angles, your scientific breakthrough must be shown and have two sides to it, there must be a a side where it shows the good and bad consequences to it.

journal 31
I chose to do one of my poems on song lyrics, so the song that I chose to do was "Fighters" by Lupe Fiasco. I took the second verse:
"I hope that god forgive usAll of us sinners
Turn us back into beginners
Put us up where the winners go
Holy apartments in the gardens
In which the rivers flow
Thank you for all your blessins
And all of your miracles
I thank all my fans and all my supports
Shout out to bishop g
Congrats on ya new baby daughter
I tip my hat to all my family and friends
Now we just got one more to go........" If you listen to the whole song it is really nice, this is probably one of my favorite songs, because it makes you feel calm and peaceful. and if you wanted to listen to the whole song here is a link http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/audio/detail.asp?=Lupe-Fiasco-Matthew-Santos-Fighters-Atlantic-Records&ID=12184
I also wanted to do a poem by Langston Hughes because he is my favorite poet. I decided to do one of my favorite poems and one of his most famous poems called: "Dreams".
Dreams
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Langston Hughes
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Langston Hughes
I like this poem because speaks the truth about dreams.
I also want to do a poem that my cousin Steve Wong did, because he is a slam poetry master, and I heard him perform before and he was excellent.

Metaphor poem: rough draft
"Go with the flow",
thats what clouds do,
we do nothing but sit around in the open blue sky,
only to move when a gust of wind has to push us along,
we are very social,
we meet other clouds and seem to connect as if we were one of the same cloud,
different times of the year our moods change,
we're either bright and fluffy,
sad and soggy,
or mad and thunderous,
but when I think of clouds I think of me!
metaphor brainstorm
I had a few metaphors for me, one is a highlighter because i am bright but sometimes I have my cap on or I just don't show how bright I am. I would also pick this because I help other people shine like a highlighter makes words shine. Another metaphor I was going to do was clouds, because they are "lazy", they do nothing but sit in the sky, I am very lazy, I would rather lay down and do nothing than to work.

Journal 25: My vocab. history
I don't have a very large vocabulary, but when I learn a new word I try to use it a lot so that i feel more comfortable using the word. I learn most of my words by playing Scrabble with my parents, and reading novels.

descriptive paragraph
Smoke filled the air, blinding flashes like a strobe light. My grandma's house is where my whole family is on New Years eve and New Years day. Everyone is standing out on the porch while my uncle Guy is starting to light the long finale firework. CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! My
New Year just began. After that it was time to go home and sleep. I had to wake up at 7:oo am to go to practice. When I went to the gym no one was there, and I later found out that practice was switched to 12:00 pm, I was pretty mad! When it was time for practice I was dozy, and I had triple eye lids, and I was sluggish. The day finished off at grandma's for some traditional Japanese dishes, Kobumaki, and Nishime.
